Kathmandu Shito Ryu Karate Tournament

My time in Nepal was pleased by the possibility to meet people from the nepali Karate community. I have read in the news about a challenge on the last weekend of my holidays. Sure that I went there.

First I have to thank the officials and especially the people from Boudha Dojo for their kindness and their hospitality.

The karate fighters or players as the nepali used to say were young boys and girls in the teens or younger. They show Shito Ryu Karate style in Kumite and Kata. The place was a high crowded schoolyard and so the fighters were set to the open sun. The stonefloor was fried. But they managed it good showing quick moves and techniques. I felt that every challenger went for victory though the referees had a busy job.

The Tournament was crowned by the concentrate Kata challenge dominated by a young girl with a black headband. She showed difficult variations of Katas each presented in a strong Kime and a stone cold looking face. The tournament day was very impressive to me.

Namaste!
